No. 29: FATIGUE

Labyrinth | Burnout | "Who said you could rest?"

~300 words, Steeley & Tubby, Murder by Air

Feeling thoroughly worn out, I flopped down in a chair, put my feet up in another and went fast asleep. The last thing I remember was Brian doing the same thing while Steeley paced impatiently up and down smoking a cigarette.

Okay so this one is just fully a Biggles The Thing AU. Given that The Thing (1982) is one of my favourite films of all time this seemed sort of inevitable.

Warning for implied major character death (both during the story and... let's say imminently following the story.)

No. 21: BODY HORROR
Body Horror | Tattoo Gun | Spirit Possession | “Let the bedsheet soak up the tears.” (Apparat feat. Soap & Skin, Goodbye)

300 words, Algy, nebulous point in canon

Broken Window | Bruises | “Frame me up on the wall, just to keep me out of trouble.” (Fall Out Boy, Irresistible)

Catching up on missed prompts by, um, missing the new ones... this will definitely work out in the end. Today's prompts are almost too delicious and require more brain than I have this week (six hours of parent's evening incoming...).

Having read [personal profile] philomytha's excellent Whumptober fic for today, I was inspired to pen a short sequel to a fic of my own involving EvS and brainwashing!

Behold!

An easy to digest compilation of all my Whumptober fic from this month. It includes a few bonus stories NOT featured here, with extra special guests Cub Peters and Lorrington King.

I've never done a challenge like this before so frankly I'm very proud I managed to get 20 stories by the end of the month. I'm not used to doing short form writing in fic or original work so it was an interesting challenge forcing myself to stop before I reached the comfort half of Hurt/Comfort.

One thing I'm realising as I work through these Whumptober prompts is that my confidence writing proper hardcore whump is very low. Which is why everything is implication, my favourite way to work.

No. 25: “You’re not delivering a perfect body to the grave.”

Storm | Buried Alive | “They’re not breathing!”

Alternate prompt: Aftermath of Failure
Algy, 197 words )

No. 26: “Sometimes I get so tired; I don’t even know myself.”

Seeing Double | Working To Exhaustion | “You look awful.”

Algy&Ginger, 165 words )

No. 27: “You drew stars around my scars; But now I’m bleeding.”

Matches | Scars | “Let me see”
Algy&Biggles, 53 words )

Some catching up!

I think #7 might have accidentally invented a new challenge category... a 'Biggle' (a fic of exactly 266 words). Also can I just say I was not anticipating writing any Boy Biggles fic for Whumptober and here we are with my second of the month.

No. 6: “Do or die, you’ll never make me; Because the world will never take my heart.”

Recording | Made to Watch | “It should have been me.”

Biggles, 185 words )

No. 7: " “I paced around for hours on empty; I jumped at the slightest of sounds.”

Alleyway | Radio Silence | “Can you hear me?”

Algy&Biggles, 266 words )

No. 20: “People don’t change people, time does.”

Blanket | Found Family | “You will regret touching them.”

Zorotov&Von Stalhein, 505 words )
